Circus Party

For Little E’s first birthday party, I decided to go with a circus theme.

I made streamers and a banner out of cardstock and red ribbon, and I found templates of circus animals, so I cut them out and pasted them to my streamers (which I hung outside, as well).

The cake was very simple–I got the idea from Parents.com. The decorations on it were Skittles, along with Starburst that I had warmed in the microwave, rolled out with a rolling pin, and cut into the shapes I wanted. I also used a Red Vine to spell out a word. The extra Starburst and Skittles made a colorful addition to the candy table.

These are cupcakes baked in ice cream cones, another idea from Parents Magazine, and they were a hit with the kids!

Outside, we had some fun circus games, like tossing a ball into cups of water, throwing a bean bag through target holes, and taking pictures at this photo booth made from an giant cardboard box, red wrapping paper, and red polka dot cloth. I had a variety of fun hats and noses for the kids to try.

Their party favors were wooden star magnets with Little E’s picture (I made one of these for Mr. C’s 1st birthday, too), made from parts I found at Hobby Lobby, and other prizes were given in these cute popcorn boxes, also from Hobby Lobby.

Even though it got a little cold at the end, we all had a great time at Little E’s circus party!
