Nine Year Old Girl’s Cat Birthday Party

by Heather Bock My daughter is OBSESSED with cats. In fact, all three of my kids are. Whenever we’re driving around town, all eyes are peeled for the sight of a feline. When any are spotted, loud squeals fill the car (and my ears) accompanied by, “A cat, a cat, a cat!!!” with the others yelling, “Where?! Where?! Where?!” We own two young cats, Ninja and Marigold, and they are a real distraction to homeschool, let me tell you. The darlings are often to be found cradled in the arms of my children, or stuffing themselves into a box way too small for them: Therefore, when it was time to…

    Astronaut Space Birthday Party

by Heather Bock JP wants to be an astronaut when he grows up. I’m using it to my advantage because I said it’s really difficult to become an astronaut–you have to work hard in school and have the best grades to reach that level. He actually put a lot of effort in on his schoolwork for at least a week or two for the motivation of becoming an astronaut alone. A week or two is better than nothing, right? Of course, for his sixth birthday, he wanted to have an astronaut party, and although I wasn’t as inspired by this one as I have been by others, I was happy…

    Football Birthday Party

by Heather Bock Poor Mr. C. He loves football and would probably enjoy playing it, but not only does he not have the right body type for a football player, but he also has a mother who does not plan to sign him up for that sport anytime soon. I’d like to protect that brain of his, thank you very much. He is welcome to watch it, though! Because he enjoys watching it so much, he chose football as the theme for his tenth birthday party. It didn’t hurt that his birthday falls on Superbowl weekend! Ticket invitations were sent out a few weeks before the event. I felt bad…

    Mermaid Birthday Party

by Heather Bock When Little E turned eight back in October, she knew she wanted a mermaid party. Although her friends weren’t as interested in the sea maidens, her imagination had been captivated by them. Don’t get me wrong, though–she didn’t give a second glance to the famous little one of Disney. I set out to give her an underwater experience without a drop of water, and it proved to be a lot more fun than the last party I threw. Mermaids and the ocean, after all, are prettier than Ninja Turtles and the sewer. I cut these out by tracing a tail that I liked from the Internet, gluing…

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Birthday Party

by Heather Bock Welcome to JP’s 5th birthday party, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle style! What’s funny is that JP hasn’t even watched Ninja Turtles for a long time, as we don’t have Hulu, the place where you can find the show he likes. However, his sister gave him a month of Hulu for his birthday (well, we actually paid for it), so he does get to watch it occasionally now. If you like to create your own cheap parties and want to get ideas, hopefully this post will be helpful for you! Of course, every party starts with an invitation. I found my idea for these invitations here, but as…

Knight Birthday Party for a Nine Year Old Boy

by Heather Bock I was excited when Mr. C wanted to have a knight themed party for his ninth birthday (which was actually in February–a little late posting) because I knew it would be fun to make the decorations. I was also just excited that he’s still willing to have me decorate big for his parties and have it at home–that won’t last forever!
